Easy Banana Pudding Recipe

This easy Banana Pudding recipe is an antique baked recipe with layers of sparkling bananas, a layer of wealthy and creamy vanilla, and whipped cream!

This is a great and hot dessert at any time of the year.

Simple Favorite
Home-made Banana Pudding is one of those recipes that has been around for a long time. The funny thing about this dessert is that it is not a “professional” banana dessert… it is like a sweet pie. Still, an old recipe, just like Granny used to make Sunday dinner.

There are many versions of this recipe including the famous Magnolia Bakery banana pudding (actually SO good) but this recipe is simple, quick, and delicious!

Ingredients
COOKIES begin with a layer of ‘Nilla Wafers’ cookies as a base. These are soft and almost cake-like.

Other options are graham cookie cookies, chewing biscuits, or chessmen cookies.

BANANAS A new banana should be ripe but yellow and slightly firm.

PUDDING Use a quick vanilla pudding. If you have a pudding recipe made by your favorite, use that in place (then skip the milk in the recipe) but make sure you cool it completely first.

Do not use banana pudding mix in this recipe, I highly recommend using vanilla. The banana pudding mixture will change the flavor of this dessert, adding to the artificial flavor of the banana instead of the new banana vanilla flavor this dessert should have.

WHIPPED CREAM You can use whipped topping but real whipped cream is much better in this recipe.

How To Make Banana Pudding
This recipe is a simple and inexpensive dessert. Do it early and let it sit overnight. This softens cookies into a cake-like texture.

To make banana pudding you will simply put cookies, sliced bananas, and a creamy pudding mixture.

Make a mixture of cheese / dessert cream (according to the recipe below).
Make a whipped cream at home. Fold one of them into a cream cheese mixture.
Place the cookies and bananas in a 9×13 pan or two 9×9 pans. Top with a mixture of cream cheese and finally whipped cream.
Refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.

Tips for this Recipe
Container Use a 9 × 13 pan or two 9 × 9 pans. This can be done in a small bowl and served with a spoon.
Bananas Completely coat the bananas with other layers. This prevents them from turning brown.
Time Allow the dessert to last for at least 4 hours but overnight is best if possible. This softens cookies.
Whipped Cream I add a packet or two of stabilizer to my whipped cream which keeps your whipped cream ‘from drying out’. I personally use Drs. Oetker Whip it.

Make-Ahead
Remember that this recipe needs to last at least 4 hours but overnight is much better!

Add the bananas on top to garnish just before serving so you don’t turn brown. If you are going to leave them out for a while, toss them with lemon juice after cutting them so that they do not stick.

Remaining Remaining
This recipe is best used the next day after making but will stay for a few days in the fridge. Bananas may cry a little but it still tastes good!
